The Girls on the Run commercial was adorable. The story behind the organization was great. It is always refreshing to see organizations geared towards the betterment of individuals, especially young children. I really liked this commercial.

This Trident ad is something I had never seen before. I guess people really do agree that sex or suggestive images really do make a product sell. I am not sure what the purpose behind this specific image is but I am not sure if it does the product any justice.

I adored the format of this commercial. The way it started did not indicate that it would be a commercial geared towards the prevention of cancer. Each person's individual story made the commercial that much more amazing. I even started to cry when the content got more personal and they started talking about people they knew that passed away. This commercial was well done and I feel as though it definitely sent a powerful message.
#13 Dark Knight
I thoroughly enjoyed the first Dark Knight, it was rather entertaining. I did not know there was going to be a sequel. The previews look very promising. I am a sucker for a great action movie so I will most likely be making a trip to see this one.
#12 If you could see yourself
The commercial was very powerful. Rape is a major issue in the world. Some may feel as though this commercial would be inappropriate for everyday publication but I do not feel as such. If anything, it may make people feel uncomfortable but it is a serious issue and should be taken as such. I felt as though this ad was well done.

Cosmopolitan is definitely one of the more risque magazines of today. However I do occasionally pick one up. The cover of this particular issue is rather interesting. Selena Gomez is gracing the cover. Of course she is beautiful on the cover but when I think of Selena, I think of her as a Disney Channel star. Wizards of Waverly place is where I envision her, not on the cover of Cosmo with a low-cut dress on. I am sure a lot of parents would say the same thing but I know that she will not be on this show for the rest of her life. Some younger kids may look up to her as a role model, so I can understand why it may be seemingly controversial for some to accept it.

PR Article
Gucci!
- It went straight to the point about the new launch of eyewear.
- It talked about what differentiated the product and why it was important.
- It represented both parties, both Gucci and Safilo.

Trends
One huge fashion trend coming back into play is the whole 60's look. I found a site that displays different looks inspired by this era. Trend Hunter is a website in which all different types of trends are highlighted. I especially liked this site because it explores a variety of trends, not just fashion but business, technology, and everything else in between, and it also shows how they relate to each other. The visuals on this site are also very appealing to me. Visuals tell a story in themselves so I can definitely appreciate the importance of pictures.

The Battery
Every since I was a young girl, I have vivid memories of the Battery. I was born and raised in Charleston and have frequented this location many a times. I love the calming ambiance and the beautiful, breathtaking scenery. The fountain is always filled with little kids splashing water everywhere and the same scene at the Pineapple. The dock is definitely one of my favorite parts. Looking over the railing and seeing the beatifully restored Ravenel Bridge is quite the site. On a good day you will be able to see dolphins swimming near by!
As I make my way down Waterfront Park, I see lush green grass, soft to the touch. Approaching the Battery, you watch history unfold before your eyes. To the right there are cannons and cannon balls, a picture painted of the past war that came through the Charleston area. Simply amazing. Back to the left is the Battery itself. Simply historic and beautiful. Everyone in Charleston has been to the Battery, if you have not then you are really missing out. Watching the sun set over the water will surely make you fall in love with the Holy City all over again!

NPHC
The National PanHellenic Council is composed of the Divine 9 sororities and fraternities, which are the historically African-American Greek letter organization. There are 5 fraternities and 4 sororities. I happen to be a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
On February 25, the members of NPHC here at the College, will participate in a Family Affair step show showcase. Everyone is more than welcomed to attend. This will be the event I will cover for my newspaper article.

Dr. Pepper 10
I am a complete sucker for a good commercial and I really liked this one. The head actor is a macho man who is doing 'manly' activities. Sometimes it may be hard for a guy to even fathom eating or drinking something that is low in calories. This commercial was made to show guys that it is ok to intake low calorie amounts. In fact at the end it even says this 10 calorie drink is not for women, continuing to play up the fact that men can too indulge in low calorie food and beverages. I really liked this commercial.
Nixon Ad
Anytime of think of a camera advertisement or commercial, I think about Ashton Kutcher and the millions he's completed. I am not exactly sure how I feel about the ad though. Looking at it closely, it appears as though the camera with the most pixels 'enhances' body features. It appears to be a good marketing gimmick, women do like to look their best.
"Unhate"
My initial reaction to this obviously photo-shopped picture is simply, wow! Reading the article, I learned that this Benetton individual is trying to promote brotherhood from powerful figures around the world. Being in a Greek letter organization I know the importance of sister/brotherhood. I am almost positive a kiss on the lips does not constitute brotherhood than a normal handshake. I find it rather offensive to portray world figures in a manner such as this without their permission.
Nazi "Aliens" and Sarah Palin?
Where should I start with this movie trailer? To be frank, I honestly do not know what to say about. It did not interest me to say the least. I was so disinterested, I cannot even remember what the gist of the movie was. It was completely corny, for lack of a better word, and simply awful. I really hope this is not a real movie, I would not spend a dollar of my money to go see it.
Character Approved
Dare to be different is one of the most widely used cliches. There is always someone encouraging others to be themselves and to be creative. Daring to be different is something everyone can capitalize on, becoming a better you and inevitably helping others who may be in the same predicament as you.
I am a huge USA network watcher. Anytime I see a Character Approved candidate, it always seems to be so compelling. Each person is so unique and so individualistic. I love it. I especially love how they highlight different types of people. They showcase people from all different walks of life. This commercial further solidifies why I absolutely adore this entire movement.

PETA
This ad is well executed in my opinion, I really like it. It is overtly sexual, yet the sexuality of it helps to plead its case. These people would rather go naked than to wear fur. It sends a strong message.

Dove Advertisement
Every Dove ad I see is always so well executed. The simplicity of them are to be commended. Furthermore I love how positive and uplifting they tend to be. In today's society the overall image of what is "technically beautiful" is rather skewed and quite sad to say the least. Dove's ads, for the most part, are designed to empower people. Everyone is beautiful no matter the race, body type, or height. Society's dictatorship over what beauty entails is rather unrealistic, this commercial definitely shows this. Models do not even look like models until after they have been nipped, tucked, and beatified by Photoshop. Let us just be real with ourselves, no one really looks like that. Well, maybe some are, but the fact of the matter is that there is beauty to be found in every individual.
Does Sex Really Sell?
My overall first impression of this ad was, WOW! I literally had no other type of feeling or expression, just wow. To a young child, they may look at this ad and say they really want that from Burger King. To an older individual, we look at this ad and it completely repulses us from wanting to eat the "Seven Incher." Why would any marketing personnel think anyone would want to purchase this sandwich with the connotation it reveals? They had to have been thinking it would go over as a funny, harmless joke. For someone as prude as I am, this definitely did not make me want to "scarf down a seven incher." (If you could not tell, that was definitely a play on words.) Overall, Burger King received publicity over the ad so, I guess the ad did what it was supposed to have done.

T.G.F.T. (Thank God for Thrifting)
Being a college student, it would be incredibly unwise of me to spend vast amounts of money on brand named clothing items. Of course there is absolutely nothing wrong with label names but when tuition and food are top priority, shopping tends to be put on the back burner. But who ever said you could not be fashionable on a budget?
Thrifting is becoming wildly more and more popular. Why go to an expensive store and spend $200, when I could easily go to a local consignment store and get WAY more for like $30? Jillgg's blog does not necessarily highlight clothing bought from thrifting, but it shows a variety of ways in which you could wear and pair key elements of your wardrobe to get that perfect, high fashion look. When I clicked on the link, I absolutely adored what I saw.
Not saying I will completely stop shopping at clothing stores because that would be a complete and utter lie. If I have extra money I will of course purchase a dress from Bebe, or a polo from Ralph Lauren, or even a new pair of heels from Steve Madden. But when I am being a responsible college student, who works for her money, I will definitely be resourceful and continue on my thrifting ventures.

Just Do It
Nike has undeniably been a major cornerstone in American culture since its debut. Men, women, children, athletes, the fashionable, and everyone else in between wear and support Nike. In fact, Nike is a brand that is recognized worldwide. It a symbol that is able to connect people. An imagine that is not only synonymous with athletes and because of that reason, everyone can bathe in the glory of the Nike empire.
I would like to start off by saying that I thoroughly enjoyed this ad. The Nike+ Fuelband Counts advertisement validates my point about Nike being an innate part of American culture. From the beginning to end, it was entertaining and relatable. All the different images and scenes are coherent and work together in an effort to promote the brand. People know about Indiana Jones. People know who LeBron James is. People have seen the Wizard of Oz. They grew up watching the Looney Tunes. Because these people, shows, and icons are apart of our culture, it makes us susceptible and willing to give the product a chance. This commercial is incredibly successful in my opinion.
